A Very Modern Problem
As with many people nowadays working from home has become the norm, setting yourself up at the kitchen table or in the spare room.
As Steve found out, this didn’t quite work out so well when on a zoom or phone call and the kids are home from school and/or the dog is barking. This also meant moving out of the spare room when somebody came to stay or clearing everything off the kitchen table when the family wants to eat a meal.

Steve's Solution
Steve decided the best solution would be to have a home office in the garden away from the main house. This would give him a designated work area which he didn’t need to clear away at the end of the working day and also reduced the temptation of going through emails and paperwork during the evening, giving him a better work/home balance by having his work area away from the main house. On the reverse of that it also gave him the ability to catch up with any important paperwork, if required, even when the house was busy with the family at home.
Bringing Steve's vision to Life
On the initial site visit we worked out the best location and orientation of the Studio to make it a comfortable working area without the sun blazing through the windows and doors during the day when he was working on his computer/laptop.
The size of the studio was dictated by how much working area Steve felt he required on a day-to-day bases, the windows and doors were positioned so he had a pleasant view from his desk and not looking at a wall, which was his outlook when working from inside the house.

Fit & Finish
Bifold doors were chosen to give him plenty of natural light, especially in the Autumn/Winter months, into the studio but also the ability to open up the workspace to the garden when the weather permitted. We also include a Picture window which faced the house, this could be opened when he wanted to let some air in without opening the main doors and he could also see people in the house when they were home. Composite decking was installed to the front and side elevation to finish off the install and give a small exterior seating area when required.
The studio was installed with his choice of composite cladding, as he wanted a maintenance free studio, a wall mounted electric radiator for the colder winter months, fully decorated and an LVT floor covering for that turn key finish.
Project Completion
Steve now has a designated workspace for all year-round use, and the ability to work without interruptions, when required, which works well with his sometimes demanding work schedule.
